September

And so eye walked

Through
Another September

Full of luscious wiƨened tints
Leaving eagerly their highlands
To restore the evanescing balance
Once again
By taking a dive

All the while
I couldn’t stop
Neither swinging my hair
Exactly one year shorter
Nor a little twinkle
From happening

Wondering

About the lightness
Of letting go

It didn’t require much

Just a humble trinity of nimble fingers
Playing the pair of honeyed scissors
Deleting all the heaviness

Of the past year

With each passing step
The words living on my lips kept
Dying

Being buried before their very birth

The less there was
The more people kept interacting
Prying

“Did you read Koran in English?”
No, I read holly books in original only, thank you.
“Have you got ten seconds, Miss?”
That I do not know, sir.
“Have you got plans for t’night?”
You see, I’m too old for plans now.

They didn’t understand
My inability to play

Nor to my blurry eye

Touching a smile

Of a middle aged woman
Choosing the most beautiful peaches in front of the shop
Finding four
Putting them into her handbag
Gently
With care

One
Two
Three
Four

Leaving
Without a word

True Costcutter 💜
